Directions for
Using Microsoft Word Processing

Goal: To create two different paragraphs on one page in a Word Processing document with specific fonts, sizes, and themes.

Paragraph 1 - Write about something that you did that was great fun.

  1. Go to Microsoft Word
  2. Go to Format: Font: select Palatino Linotype and size 18, click O.K.
  3. Center a Title and underline it, then touch enter
  4. Type your name under the title and touch enter twice (your name should not be underlined)
  5. Click on the Left Alignment button
  6. Use single spacing
  7. Touch tab one time to indent your first sentence
  8. Type at least five sentences and at least 60 words (highlight your writing and go to Tools: Word Count)
  9. Use correct Capitalization and Punctuation
  10. Go to Tools: Spelling and Grammar to double check your writing

 

Paragraph 2 - Write about a wild and crazy dream you had - Use the words wild and crazy in your paragraph.

  1. Go to Format: Font: select Arial and size 14, click O.K.
  2. Center a Title and underline it, then touch enter twice
  3. Click on the Left Alignment button
  4. Use single spacing
  5. Touch tab one time to indent your first sentence
  6. Type at least five sentences and at leat 60 words
  7. Be sure to use the words 'wild' and 'crazy' in your paragraph
  8. Choose 3 Adjectives (describing words) in your paragraph and change their style to bold
  9. One by one, highlight each of your 3 adjectives and do the following. . .
    1. Go to Tools: Language: Thesaurus
    2. A search bar will appear on the right hand side of your screen - showing improved word choices for your adjective
    3. Choose a better word and type it in the place of your original adjective (it should still be bold)
  10. Use correct Capitalization and Punctuation
  11. Go to Tools: Spelling and Grammar to double check your writing
