Project 5
Directions for
Creating a Newspaper

Goal: To create a Newspaper in a Word Processing document with four articles (at least 70 words in length each) and four different pictures to go with the articles. You may decide the topics of your articles.

1. Click on the Insert Tab; go to Header and select Blank. You will need to click on the Home Tab and Center the title of your newspaper and your name.
2. Double click below the Header dotted line to exit the Header area.
3. Click on the Page Layout Tab; Go to Columns and select Two.
4. Center all titles of your articles under the Home Tab. (*Note - go back to Left Alignment after you center your title.)

5. While typing your articles remember the following:

  • Indent each paragraph 5 spaces
  • Begin sentences with CAPITAL Letters
  • Use correct ending punctuation
  • For each article, insert a graphic object

6. Click on the Insert Tab: go to Clip Art to provide yourself with a place to search for a picture.
7. Touch the picture you want one time to make it 'appear' or 'insert' onto your Word document.
8. Re-size your graphic by dragging the bubbled corners of the image. Images need to be smaller or less than the width of your article.
9. Right-click on your graphic; pull down to Text Wrapping; and select Tight. This will give you an appearance of your text wrapping around your graphic.
10. Click on the Review Tab; go to Spelling and Grammar to edit your writing and fix-up any spelling errors you have in your articles.
11. Before you print, proofread your articles to make sure that your writing is clear and makes sense!
