Explanation

Computer Applications is a seventh grade rotation course. Students rotate through this course in 4.5 week periods. During that time students create nine different projects which involve word processing, painting, drawing, spreadsheets and graphs, desktop publishing, and multi-media.

Although the course moves quickly, students are able to work at their own pace and improve upon their skills using computer technology. As students advance as technology users, so will this course. It is always changing to accomodate the ever-changing standards of the time and abilities of students.

Most importantly, I want students to leave this rotation feeling confident that they could problem solve their way through most computer programs and successfully complete projects/assignments.

Grading

Throughout the course of Computer Applications, I allow students to revise their work. All assignments are graded on a 5 point scale. Therefore, if a student scores any lower than a 5, then they have the opportunity to revise that assignment and turn it in for a higher grade. With nine assignments in the course, there is a total of 45 points. This means that all the points a student can earn are crucial.
