Picture Season - Part 1
Utilizing Websites to Locate and Manipulate Pictures

Goal: You will use various websites to locate and save pictures; Next, you will maniplulate the pictures, creating cool and innovative photo creations. In another project, A Season in Six, you will use your manipulated pictures to create a storytelling slideshow.

Directions:

  1. First, we need to create a new folder on the server to hold all of your images for this particular project - let's call this folder 'season.'
  2. To begin, you will locate and save at least 9 different photos into your new 'season' folder on the server.  Your pictures should all focus on one season of the year (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer). Your focus will depend upon when you have computers class. Here is the schedule:
    • 1st 9 Weeks - FALL
    • 2nd 9 Weeks - WINTER
    • 3rd 9 Weeks - SPRING
    • 4th 9 Weeks - SUMMER
  1. Use any of the following sites to locate your pictures:
    1. Morgue File http://www.morguefile.com/
    2. Pics4Learning  http://www.pics4learning.com
    3. Fotopedia http://www.fotopedia.com
  1. Now that you've found your pictures - let's start manipulating.  Use each of the sites below to enhance your photos. You may do more photos, but you must do a minimum of one photo per site. Save your edited photos into your picture folder on the server - you'll need the 'old' photos, too, so be sure to name your manipulated photos as something different.
    Painting
    Ghost
    Photo Circles
    Shifted Tiles
    Kaleidoscope
    Canvas Tiles
    Infinity
    Amazing Circles
    Cartoons

  2. We will be using your photos to create a slideshow.  Be sure that you have at least 9 photos that have been saved and manipulated in your 'season' folder. Also - you need to have the original photos, too!  That's at least 18 pictures!
