Directions for
Using Microsoft Word to Make a Calendar

Goal: To design your own Calendar with 10 Notes (Messages) and 10 Graphics


Directions:

  1. Begin your Calendar by double clicking each item on the following path - Start: My Computer: Middle School: Computers Class: Calendars: 2010 OR 2011: and finally the month of the Calendar you will be creating
  2. Go to File: Save As, and save the 'Calendar' document into your home folder (you should see your ID number at the top of the 'saving window')
  3. On the first day of the Month (OR THE FIRST EMPTY CELL ON THE CALENDAR) type your name
  4. Type 10 notes on the Calendar (Click after the date where you want to type your note, touch return, touch center, and then type your note. You can change font sizes and styles later.)
  5. Click on the Insert Tab and then touch Clip Art to to bring up a graphic search window on the right hand side of your document
  6. By conducting specific graphic searches, insert 10 Graphics which compliment your Notes on the Calendar
  7. Re-size your graphics (about as small as the 'dates' on the calendar), and drag your graphic to the appropriate location on the calendar (Be sure not to cover your writing with graphics.)
  8. Check to see that all appropriate items on your Calendar begin with a Capital Letter
  9. Print your calendar
