About Me

My name is Amy LaVigne-Benore. My passion for integrating technology. When I'm not teaching or learning about technology, however, I may be coaching.

During football and basketball season, I coach 7th and 8th grade Cheerleading. Each season, I select between 24 and 30 girls to participate in this sport. I even use technology to help me judge try-outs more quickly and efficiently. I utilize a spreadsheet on a laptop computer during try-outs to calculate the scores of each candidate. Then, I sort the spreadsheet from highest to lowest score. When more than 60 students often try-out each season, this is a much appreciated use of technology!

School Technology Environment

Ida Middle School has approximately 600 students and we maintain a 5:1 computer to student ratio at this time. In addition to each classroom in the middle school having a minimum of one networked computer, we have a 38 computer lab, and we are fortunate enough to have a wireless lab containing 18 laptops. I have helped to establish mini-lab settings which include three or more networked computers in eight classrooms in my building. Additional wiring and hubs were purchased to make these arrangements possible. Due to a countywide technology millage, our district as well as those around us, have technologically prospered over the last few years.
